Welcome to the section of my site in which I gather together some of my Laverda experiences and enjoyment.  I hope you'll find something to enjoy here too.

At the moment there are three sections in here:

My Mirage pages - a couple of pages with some info and pictures of my Mirage.

US Laverda Tour US - the story of when I took the Mirage to the US, via Canada, to visit an All Italian bike rally in Iowa, some friends in Delaware and took in Arkasas, New Orleans and a few other places while I was there.

ILOC 25th / Laverda 50th birthdays - the ILOC International Rally July 1999: quite an event.

And to fill this page out a bit, here are one of the earliest and one taken more recently of the Mirage.

Mirage 1981 by Irish beach

A week after I acquired the Mirage in 1981 I took it on holiday to Donegal, Ireland - one of my favourite places.  Had some great rides and seriously tested the suspension.  This is the beach where we were staying, at low tide.  And yes, you could ride the bike across it, and I did, and it was fun !

Laverda Mirage at home, July 99

And so to 2005, 24 years later, and the end of our shared journeys. :-(
An awful lot of the bike was still the same - even the paintwork, despite living outside and being sole transport for several years - although I'm afraid the engine internals have required rather more attention than the passing of about 45,000 miles really ought to justify.
Can't complain about the Kiehan stainless Jota silencers though - they went on in '83 and were still going strong !

Strangely the Laverda's fate was sealed by it's new blue companion, the BMW R1100RS I purchased in 2003. What I found was that once I had both bikes in the garage it was always the BMW that came out. When I realised what was happening I knew one of them had to go and, in a moment of madness, decided it would be the Mirage. It found an appreciative owner, who rode off into a rainy night, and sent me the photos to show that it arrived in London.

You can't change time. Sometimes we make mistakes. You just have to acknowledge them and move on. And I do still enjoy the BMW !
